As the year is reaching its end, and unfortunately our world is engulfed with the horrors of terrorism, extremism and Islamic fundamentalism brewing in the Middle East, taking a look back would be quite helpful. The carnages in Paris and San Bernardino proved once again that these threats understand no borders, and the main benefactor in all this is none other than the regime ruling Iran.
In the election year of 2016, a very important issue on the table is how to tackle terrorism, be it Daesh (ISIS) and Islamic extremism that is unquestionably represented and Godfathered by the mullahs in Tehran.
This threat is day by day inching closer to threatening our very fabric of life and the foundations of values we cherish in our civilized society. By targeting our cultural and ideological tolerance, Islamic extremism, and Iran’s role in it, is attempting to annihilate any and all coexistence and thousands of years of friendship amongst Muslims and Christians across the globe.
A very important aspect in the fight against Islamic extremism is a strategy responding to all essential matters, including extensive measures by the military, intelligence and law enforcement apparatuses. The West enjoys these means, yet they are unwisely sidelining their best allies in this very formidable battle. Moderate Muslims and their leaders provide the best support as they are willing to rise against Islamic extremism. This is especially true about those who enjoy legitimacy amongst their nations that are unfortunately suffering from extremists and their ideology.
Maryam Rajavi is a leading Muslim woman that is a strong advocate of preaching a push against the extremism practiced by the mullahs in Iran for nearly 40 years now. Heading the main Iranian opposition umbrella group, the National Council of Resistance of Iran, Rajavi is spearheading a global campaign to bring an end to the mullahs’ devious rule in Iran and rein in the extremist ideology that is becoming a global force today. Being a true believer in a new interpretation of Islam based on democracy, moderation and tolerance, Rajavi believes any and all forms of promoting terrorism is completely against the true spirit of Islam. Violating people’s freedoms or denying women of equality is also against the messages of Islam and Christianity, brought to us by prophets Mohammed and Jesus Christ.
In her Christmas message this year, Mrs. Rajavi expressed hope “2016 would be 2016 would be a year of unity and victory over Islamic extremism and especially the religious fascism ruling Iran and its evil allies in the Middle East who sow the seeds of enmity in the world.”
In yet another show of her deep beliefs, Rajavi called for unity amongst all mankind, from all religions, with Muslims and Christians leading this battle against extremism and Islamic fundamentalism.
“Muslims and Christians can rely on their common values to stand up to those who pervert their religions. So, in contrast to what the extremists want, we should make our hope and faith in humanity deeper than ever,” she said.
A certainty is the mutual wish amongst all nations for a quick end to Islamic fundamentalism and extremism, and for the nations living under the horrific rule of Bashar Assad in Syria, Ali Khamenei in Iran and the lands controlled by Daesh terrorists to once again live in freedom and prosperity. We should strive to bring an end to the persecution of Muslims and Christians alike across the Middle East and the world over. It is worth noting that the regime ruling Iran is unfortunately a leading a persecutor of Christian converts, along with members of all other religious and ethnic minorities.
This Christmas season the words of Maryam Rajavi are very much worth listening to as she shares the hopes cherished by civil societies across the globe.
