Today, Saturday, July 9th, thousands of highly spirited and enthusiastic Iranians from throughout the world are flocking into Le Bourget convention center near Paris to join the giant annual rally. National Council of Resistance of Iran, the main Iranian opposition movement organizes the rally. The key speaker is Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President of NCRI who is expected to give a rousing speech demanding for a tougher approach by the West toward the Iranian government for its gross human rights violation and destructive meddling in neighbor countries. Hundreds of political personalities including American officials from both sides of aisle, European lawmakers from different trends and delegations from Arab countries are said to join this giant assembly. The message of this year’s gathering is demand for regime change, a major shift in the West’s policy toward Iran, abandoning last year’s nuclear deal with Iran and taking a firm stance towards Iran’s human rights abuse and export of terrorism in the Middle East. Many of the attendants are from Syria waving their flags, joining their voice with the Iranian opposition. The Syrian opposition’s representatives have recently expressed solidarity with the Iranian opposition. The Syrians seem to use this opportunity to echo the voice of the innocent children and youths falling victims for the brutal rule of Bashar Assad, backed by the Iranian regime.
